Fundación LAB Mediterráneo participates in the XIV INNOVATION CONGRESS

Valencia 07/07/2023.- Fundación LAB Mediterráneo, a project promoted by the Valencian Association of Businesspeople (AVE), has today taken part in the XIV INNOVATION CONGRESS, organized by the Club Innovación, under the slogan ‘Technology at the service of sustainable innovation’.

The inaugural session was presided over by Paco Gavilán, president of Club Innovación, Alejandro Solvay, director of APD Levante and Felipe Pulido De Dios, territorial director of Business Banking at CaixaBank. All three underlined the importance of innovation for competitiveness in business.

Then, Joaquín Membrado, General Secretary of Club Innovación, and director of the Congress, the Congress’ overall moderator, provided a brief summery of the programme, and introduced the first speaker, Hector Dominguis, CEO of GDES, member of the Club, and President of Fundación LAB Mediterráneo, who gave an exposé of ‘How LAB Mediterráneo drives innovation’.

The second talk was entitled ‘Innovation, a key lever in 5.0 management’, and was presented by Ignacio Babé, General Secretary/CEO of Club Excelencia en Gestión. Club Excelencia is Club Innovación’s national partner, and brings together almost three hundred companies, many of whom are in the IBEX 35.

The first table of presidents/CEO’s/senior management was dedicated to ‘Innovation in the Services Sector’, and was moderated by Eva Toledo, CEO of Padima, and member of the Club’s Board of Directors. Taking part in the table were Amparo García, COO of Zeus/Sesame, Ana García Teruel, director of Sanitas for Valencia and Castellón as well as of the Club’s Board of Directors, and Andreu Rodellas, Corporate General Manager of Euro – Funding.

The second table was dedicated to ‘Innovation in Industrial Sectors’ , and was moderated by Santiago de Taranco, President of Alberta Norweg, and member of the Club’s Board of Directors. This interesting table was attended by María del Carmen Briceño, director of R&D&I, of the Alacant Group, Raúl Martín, Corporate General Manager of Familia Martínez, and Enrique Chovi, CEO of Chovi.

During the Congress, the VI Awards for Innovation given to the most innovative companies and projects were presented during the Congress on the night of innovation on 30 November. Likewise, a new Seal of Innovation was awarded to innovative companies/projects which were runners up, though they failed to win a prize, they were above a given level.

The closing event was presided over by Paula Llobet, Head of Economy and Large Projects of Valencia City Council, and members of Club Innovación’s Board of Directors took part, among whom was Paco Gavilán, president, Juan Manuel Baixauli, the Club’s Honorary President, and Founder of Consultia Travel, together with Vice-presidents  José Manuel Orta, CEO of MetTecno2000, Isabel Gimenez, General Director of the Foundation of Stock  Market and Financial Studies and José Luis Vilar, CEO of the Gimeno Group.

Before winding up, Joaquín Membrado gave a summary of the talks and round tables and, in all cases, there was a common denominator: the importance of innovation in the broadest sense of the term, in business strategy, which implies having a structured process that helps attract innovative ideas internally as well externally, and analysis thereof in order to turn them into an innovative project, which adds value to the market.

 

Fundación LAB Mediterráneo

Fundación LAB Mediterráneo is a project created by AVE with the mission of positioning the Region of Valencia as a national and European benchmark in entrepreneurship, innovation, technology and research.

To achieve this, it has set itself five objectives: to promote the creation and attraction of technology start-ups; to work to attract national and international technology companies to set up in the Valencia Region and create a ‘tractor effect’; to promote support for companies in non-technological sectors to accelerate their digital transformation; to contribute to increasing private investment in R&D&I; and to help promote research.
